Grant Category:
Decentralization
Grant Description:
This proposal is to develop a governance analytics dashboard for CoW DAO. The dashboard will be built using code from our open source repository. By doing so CoW DAO will get access to our community analytics dashboard for no further costs. They will gain access to our default offchain community metrics (Discord, Discourse and Telegram analytics) and our tool set for community engagement (ai bot, onchain reputation score).
We will be re-using the dashboard we created for Pocket Networks (repository for the front-end), adapting the metrics to CoW DAO’s needs.
The goal of the project is to consolidate key governance metrics as detailed in this RFP. This is important given the upcoming launch of a delegation program. The dashboard will provide CoW DAO’s members with information about governance. The metrics will focus on
- Voting and voting power
- Proposals: summary and activity
- Delegation: members and their activities
To create the dashboard we will be querying data directly from Snapshot using their API.
Grant Goals and Impact:
The goal of this project is to track delegation activity, proposal success, and voting patterns in CoW DAO. This ensures that governance is transparent and accessible. By including community metrics into the dashboard, CoW DAO adds another layer of insights and can compare general community engagement and governance activity. This will help understand the members and topics that drive engagement in each layer. In addition, CoW DAO will be able to reward members for their awareness of important community topics.
Milestones:
Milestone | Due Date | Payment (15k xDAI + 10k COW vested) |
---|---|---|
Building the snapshot pipeline | 3 week | 4k xDAI + 2.5k COW vested |
Analytics | 3 week | 5k xDAI + 2.5k COW vested |
Front-end | 3 week | 4k xDAI + 2.5k COW vested |
Testing, Feedback & Refinement | 2 week | 2k xDAI + 2.5k COW vested |
Prep-work: (3 weeks)
- Creating snapshot pipeline, processing and cleaning data
Analytics: (3 weeks)
- Creating analytics as stated in the RFP (high-level governance metrics, Proposal metrics, voting analytics, delegation tracking)
- Calculating decentralization of governance activity (centralization of power)
- Calculating strength of coalitions among delegates
Front-end: (3 weeks)
- Creating visually intuitive charts for each metric
Testing, Feedback & Refinement (2 weeks)
- We will conduct user testing of the dashboard to ensure that the charts are intuitive and the flow makes sense for community members to ensure easy decision making.
Budget Breakdown:
The budget includes the hourly rates of a developer (front-end, back-end, data engineer) and a project manager on a need basis. The xDAI part of the budget shall be paid after each milestone’s completion. COW shall be vested over 1 year to cover diluted maintenance and related costs for the same period.

Other information
- All our code is open-source
- Our analytics is based on network analysis.
- We have done a community and governance dashboard for Pocket Network. Unfortunately, the team underwent major changes this summer and in the process the dashboard was taken down.
