Grant Progress Tracking Platform

Track spending, grant impact, and deliverables — all in one place, with full transparency and real-time insights.

TL;DR

This proposal outlines the development of a Grant Progress Tracking Dashboard for CowDAO-funded projects, designed to provide the community with a transparent, user-friendly platform to monitor the progress of funded initiatives. The tracker will offer detailed milestone tracking, real-time updates, and automated alerts for deviations or delays. The goal is to provide unified access to all past and active grants, along with their statuses, at a total estimated cost of $2999.

Motivation

Currently, tracking the progress of CowDAO’s grant proposals is fragmented, with updates scattered across posts, forums, and channels. This lack of cohesion limits the community’s ability to effectively oversee projects, evaluate performance, and act on potential issues quickly.

Rationale

To address this, we propose building a Grant Progress Tracker with the following features:

  • Milestone Tracking: Dedicated pages for each grant showing key milestones, progress bars, percentages, and completion status.
  • Real-time Updates: Live updates on project milestones and overall progress.
  • Automated Alerts: Notifications for overdue tasks or scope deviations, sent via in-app messages and email.
  • Visualizations: Interactive charts and graphs to visualize timelines, risks, and achievements.
  • Risk Detection: ML-powered analytics to identify early signals of delays, deviation, or grant misuse.

All features will be customized to CowDAO’s structure, needs, and community preferences.

Grant Overview

  • Project list with completion rates, risk scores, and last update timestamps
  • Filterable dashboards for detailed and high-level views

Risk Assessments

  • Smart risk scores and automated red flags
  • Visual indicators of project health

Treasury View

  • Centralized dashboard showing fund allocations, disbursements, and burn rate

Project Details Pages

  • Milestones, deliverables, funding history, and community discussion

Organization and Admin Tools

  • Delegate and admin controls to manage grant oversight
  • Ability to set alerts, filter views, and take corrective actions

Project Scope & Cost Breakdown

The MVP will be scoped at $2999 for over 12 months monitoring, covering:

  • Front-end dashboard
  • Risk detection engine
  • Admin controls and integrations
  • Public interface for community users
  • Tools for independent oversight and reporting

Benefits to the CowDAO Community

  • Transparency: Clear, centralized access to grant progress and performance.
  • Accountability: Keeps grant recipients on track and incentivizes timely delivery.
  • Community Engagement: Empowers the CowDAO community to stay informed and involved.
  • Proactive Resolution: Early warning system for delays or issues.

By offering a seamless and transparent way to monitor CowDAO’s grant initiatives, this proposal aims to boost accountability, trust, and successful project outcomes across the ecosystem. The dashboard can be integrated into the CowDAO governance portal or forum for easy access.

Thanks @BuildUnion

I have seen this same post pop up in a number of gov forums over the last few days, it seems you are making the rounds in positioning to ecosystems.

Some questions from me:

  • Where is this being used today? Have any ecosystems adopted it and are using at scale?
  • How do you envision this would change our current workflow?
  • What is your team’s experience in working with grant programs?

We are in the process of developing something that would greatly increase our efficiency and achieve much of what you mention here (without the dashboard components).

With that being said, I would be open to meeting and learning more about this platform. If you want to DM me here on the forum we can connect and find a time.

Thanks. It sounds like you’re well on your way to solving these challenges internally. If you see potential for synergy down the line, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to connect. In the meantime, best of luck with your build; it sounds like you’re tackling the right problems.
