Experiences and qualifications
- Native Simplified Chinese speaker, fluent in English, and an active DeFi user (swaps, limit orders, approvals, Safe).

- Work sample, done in advance: I translated 29 real strings (~424 words) from
apps/cowswap-frontend/src/locales/en-US.po(develop @2c021a89a8fe). They focus on the hardest terms (surplus, slippage, MEV, TWAP, approvals, expiry, price impact), with a terminology table and QA notes. Placeholders and ICU plurals are kept so the strings can go straight into Crowdin (full sample below, under Other Information). - I’m also happy to do the RFP’s official sample task.
Grant Description
The Phase 1 UI Translation RFP (RFP: CoW Swap UI Translation & Localization) delivered ES / PT-BR / RU / FR. The Council said more languages would come later. This application proposes Simplified Chinese as a Phase 2 language. It uses exactly the Phase 1 scope, workflow and pricing, so the Council can treat it as one more language on an existing process rather than a new kind of grant.
Why zh-CN: Chinese-speaking users are one of the largest DEX/aggregator audiences. The cowswap repo currently ships 10 locales, and none of them is Chinese. Getting the language right is a safety issue in a trading UI. In Chinese, a machine-translated “surplus” (剩余 = “leftover”) or “approval” reads wrong, and these strings ask people to sign transactions.
Scope (same as the Phase 1 RFP):
- Full zh-CN translation of the CoW Swap UI: ~8,800 words / ~1,500 strings, done in Crowdin.
- A terminology glossary aimed only at the UI (~100 terms, kept in Crowdin), so terms stay consistent across releases.
- QA pass in the staging build: length/overflow checks, placeholder and plural checks, in-context review of the swap, limit, TWAP, Hooks and account flows.
- Respond to reviewer feedback until sign-off.
- Ongoing maintenance owner for zh-CN: I’ll check Crowdin at least monthly and on each product release.
Explicitly out of scope: docs, long-form/educational content, and marketing copy. (I’ve seen the Committee’s 9/30 guidance that long-form content isn’t a current priority. This proposal is UI strings only, which is the separate track that was already funded.)
Reviewer: The RFP noted that every language needs a native-speaker reviewer. If the core team has no zh reviewer, I can suggest a community reviewer for a small separate review grant. Or the Council can choose its own reviewer, and I’ll work with whoever is chosen.

M1: All ~1,500 strings translated in Crowdin, plus a UI glossary. Done means 100% of strings translated and the reviewer can start.
M2: All reviewer comments handled, QA in the staging/preview build (no overflow, broken placeholders or plural errors), and approved strings ready for the core team’s PR. Done means reviewer sign-off.
M3: New strings translated within one release cycle, for 3 monthly check-ins. After that I stay on as maintainer on the same terms as Phase 1 owners.
Length
About 6 weeks to go-live, plus 3 months of maintenance (well under the 6-month limit). Starts when the grant is approved.
Funding Request
1,000 USDC total (DAI or USDS also fine), paid per milestone as above. This is in the middle of the Phase 1 per-language range (~750–1,500), for the same ~8,800-word scope with maintenance included.

QA notes
- #9 is a pun (“run away” from MEV). I translated the joke rather than the literal words.
- #15 fixes the source’s “Cow Swap” to the brand spelling “CoW Swap”. Worth a small upstream fix.
- #19: the literal meaning (“for balances you don’t have yet”) was rewritten into natural Chinese without changing the meaning.
- Length: Chinese strings are on average ~40–60% shorter than the English, so they won’t overflow the layout.
