Current status of BCoW factory/helper configuration

Question: Current status of BCoW factory/helper configuration and read-only conformance POC

I’m posting this on behalf of the ILE Labs team. We’re currently validating a small, read-only proof of concept around factory/helper configuration conformance.

The basic idea is to detect whether a verified on-chain deployment relationship is correctly represented in the configuration consumed by an indexing or driver path. The intention is not to modify production systems, but to provide a lightweight way of detecting configuration mismatches or drift.

We started from the BCoW indexing report referenced in this thread and independently checked the reported pool, factory, and helper addresses against the current Ethereum state. We confirmed that the reported contracts have deployed bytecode and that the helper’s factory() call returns the reported factory address.

These checks are based on current Ethereum state and are not a pinned historical replay of the state at the time of the original report.

At this point, we have not established that the reported mapping is currently missing from production. While looking through the current repository structure, we also noticed that the public services tree now exposes a pool-indexer crate and a different driver configuration layout from the historical crates/cow-amm path referenced in the report.

Before we take the POC any further, we’d appreciate some clarification from anyone familiar with the current deployment and indexing architecture:

  1. Is the original indexing issue still relevant?
Has the reported configuration issue already been resolved, or does the underlying concern still apply to the current deployment?

  2. What is the current source of truth?
Which configuration, repository path, or deployment metadata should be treated as authoritative for the factory/helper relationship today?

  3. Would a conformance check be useful?
Would a small, CI-ready, read-only check that compares the expected configuration against verified on-chain relationships be useful to the owning team or solver operators?

The current POC makes no production changes and submits no transactions. We’re treating it as an exploratory validation exercise rather than making a claim that there is currently a production issue.

Likewise, we’re not presenting it as an official integration or grant proposal at this stage. We’d rather make sure we understand the current architecture correctly before expanding the work.

Any clarification or correction from the maintainers or operators familiar with the current setup would be very helpful.

As far as I’m aware, cowamm has been deprecated (refer to now mention anymore on cow.fi domains). Therefore any new work regarding this is somewhat moot / irrelevant.
