Proposal: Development of CCXT Connector for CoW SDK - CoW DAO Retroactive Funding Round
Hello CoW DAO community,
We are Tantodefi and Bhavya Gor, two experienced developers specializing in blockchain integrations, API development, and trading systems. We’ve contributed to open-source DeFi projects, including smart contracts, algorithmic trading tools, and developer resources for platforms like BUIDLGuidl’s Scaffold-ETH. We’re excited to submit this proposal for CoW DAO’s first retroactive funding round.
Proposal Overview
This proposal aims to develop a CCXT library connector for the CoW SDK, bridging CoW Protocol’s intent-based trading with the widely used CCXT library. This will enable algorithmic traders to integrate CoW’s MEV-protected executions seamlessly via a unified API, reducing integration barriers and boosting protocol adoption.
Key Benefits:
- Ease of Integration: Allows developers to treat CoW as a standard “exchange” in CCXT, using familiar methods for quoting, ordering, and fetching.
- Increased Usage: Empowers algo traders to route orders through CoW for superior pricing, potentially increasing TVL and solver competition.
- Ecosystem Expansion: As an open-source CCXT contribution, it will attract new builders, showcasing CoW’s advantages like lower slippage and gas efficiency through features such as a quote comparator.
- Alignment with CoW Goals: Supports developer tools and growth, as per the retro funding priorities.
Feasibility and Approach
We’ve assessed CoW’s batch auction model against CCXT’s interfaces, confirming viability through partial implementations (e.g., polling for async operations, disabling unsupported market data like order books). We’ll handle rate limiting, add custom extensions (e.g., multi-exchange quote comparison), and ensure robustness with tests and documentation.
Deliverables and Milestones
- Core CCXT connector class with trading support.
- Custom features like quote comparators and example bots.
- Documentation, tests, and merged PR to CCXT.
- Timeline: Research (September 2025), Implementation (October), Testing/Features (October), Submission (November).
Budget Request
- 15,000 xDAI for development, testing, and engagement (e.g., 200 hours at $50/hour equivalent).
- 15,000 vested COW tokens for long-term alignment.
Payments in stablecoins preferred, with COW vesting over 12 months.
Impact
Expected 10-20% uplift in algo-driven volume, tracked via downloads, transactions, and community metrics.
